History
The name of Val d’Or is a French title that takes root in the golden Scottish broom that covers the summer fields. It translates literally to ‘Valley of Gold’ and this camp site has been under the management of the Van Donk family for over forty years. In the beginning, only the valley area was part of the camp site, but bit by bit the camp site expanded onto the adjacent hills. Since 2017 we, the Van Berkum family, are the proud managers of Val d’Or and we hope to welcome you to our little secret and show you the best of Luxembourg’s beautiful and relaxing character!
Eco-label
Val d’Or has been a certified ECO-label member for many years, fostering care and responsibility for our natural environment and resources. Recent improvements include the installation of solar panels for heating our sanitary water supply and a switch to a renewable electricity provider. Our Plymouth Rock bistro is practically free of plastic and disposable items and it is our fervent hope that you will support our efforts during your stay. A simple effort you can make is to recycle and separate your trash in the according bins at our waste repository, and to use the tap water supply efficiently. Another great idea for a more sustainable approach to your holiday trip is to travel to Val d’Or via train. Our staff is more than happy to collect you to and from the Wilwerwiltz train station!
